Cindy Sheehan is known for her campaign against war. She was the mother of Casey Sheehan, who died short of his 25th birthday while facing war. Sheehan founded the "Gold Star Families For Peace." She wrote letters, gave speeches, and testified before Congress protesting the Iraqi war. However, she became known for her vigil. Sheehan and other protesters sat in a ditch besides the presidents ranch and waited to meet the president. The media became attracted and this made her "Peace mom." Her "ditch" protest became known as "Camp Casey." Backing up, Sheehan was born in California on July 10, 1957 to Jane and Jim Bright. She graduated from Cerritos College and moved on to UCLA. For eight years, she worked as a youth minister and coordinated an after school program for at-risk middle school students. Sheehan was married to Patrick Sheehan and had four children. Since Camp Casey, the two have divorced for "irreconcible differences."
